Clients seeking greater flexibility on cost should also explore our empty-leg flights, which can offer significant savings on select routings into and out of Amman.
Queen Alia International Airport sits at an elevation of 730 m (2,395 ft) above sea level in Zizya, approximately 36 km from Amman city centre and approximately 40 km from the Ancient Citadel. Its key technical specifications are:
The airport’s single modern terminal — which replaced three earlier terminals in 2014 — spans 6,000 square metres (65,000 sq ft) and accommodates both commercial and cargo operations. Current passenger capacity stands at 12 million per year, with expansion plans targeting 16 million by 2032. The facility is accessible by car or bus shuttle from central Amman.
Flying privately through Prime Jet Services means bypassing the queues and formalities that define commercial travel. You board through a separate process, transfer directly to your aircraft, and arrive at Queen Alia’s VIP facilities without delay. Onboard and ground services available to our clients include:
On arrival at Queen Alia International Airport, Prime Jet Services can arrange chauffeured limousine transfers directly from the terminal. This removes the inconvenience of public transport or navigating unfamiliar roads after a long flight, and ensures that the standard of your journey remains consistent from wheels-down to your final destination in the city.
Amman is Jordan’s capital and largest city, home to more than 4 million people and a history spanning more than 9,000 years. Today it ranks as the fifth-largest city in the Arab world, combining a historic eastern quarter — centred on sites such as the Roman Amphitheatre, the Ancient Citadel and the Royal Automobile Museum — with a modern western district that houses the majority of the city’s international businesses. The breadth of Amman’s cultural and commercial offer makes it an equally compelling destination for leisure travellers and corporate visitors.
Queen Alia International Airport was established in 1983 to relieve pressure on Amman’s previous civil airport, initially designed for 3.5 million passengers per year. Successive expansions culminated in the opening of the current single terminal in 2014, the same year the airport received both the Best Improvement by Region: Middle East and Best Airport by Region: Middle East awards. The airport takes its name from Queen Alia, the third wife of King Hussein, who died in a helicopter accident in 1977.
